# Creating an Invoice

This article walks through creating a one-time or recurring invoice in HiveCRM.

## Create a One-Time Invoice

1. Go to **Hive CRM → Invoices**.
2. Click **Add Invoice**.
3. Select the client, then add line items with quantities, units, and prices.
4. Apply any tax rates configured under [Estimates & Invoices Settings](estimates-invoices-settings.md).
5. Click **Save**.

The invoice is automatically numbered using your configured **Invoice Number Prefix**.

## Set Up a Recurring Invoice

If **Enable Recurring Invoice Engine** is turned on under [Estimates & Invoices Settings](estimates-invoices-settings.md):

1. Create the invoice as usual.
2. Enable its recurring schedule and choose the billing interval.
3. Optionally enable **Auto-Send**, so HiveCRM automatically generates and sends each new invoice in the series without manual action.

## Collect Payment

Clients can pay an invoice online through any [payment gateway](payment-gateways.md) you've enabled — PayPal, Stripe, or a WooCommerce-routed checkout. Bank/wire transfer instructions are shown as a manual payment option if configured.

## Payment Reminders

If due-date reminders are enabled under [Estimates & Invoices Settings](estimates-invoices-settings.md), HiveCRM automatically emails the client before and after the due date until the invoice is paid.
