# A connected form does not add people

People send a connected form but do not appear in **Audience > Contacts**. Causes, most likely first:

1. **The connection is off.** Open **Audience > Forms > Connected forms** and turn the switch on. If it will not turn on, the reason is shown (for example a missing **Consent box field**).

![The Connected forms tab: one form on, one off and one with the Plugin not found badge](https://hiveplugins.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/hivemail-troubleshoot-connected-forms-table-05.webp)
2. **The form plugin is not found.** An amber **Plugin not found** badge means the plugin is deactivated or deleted. Activate it; **Settings > Integrations** should say **Found**. Elementor forms need Elementor Pro.
3. **Older entries are not imported.** Only people who send the form after you turned the connection on are added.
4. **No usable email address.** A submission without a valid email is ignored (noted in the system log). Click **Edit steps**, click the trigger and check **Email field**; leave it empty to find it automatically.
5. **The address cannot be added.** Suppressed addresses make no contact and start no flow ([Bounces, complaints and the suppression list](/docs/hive-mail-bounces-and-suppressions/)). A trashed contact must be restored first. An existing contact only gets empty details filled in; its status never changes for unsubscribed, bounced or complained people.
6. **The person was added but is Pending.** **Permission to email** decides this. With **Subscribe when a consent box is ticked**, a new contact is **Subscribed** only if the box in **Consent box field** was ticked. See [Contact statuses](/docs/hive-mail-contact-statuses/).
7. **The form plugin never sends the data.** Contact Form 7 is read after its mail is sent, so a failed mail reaches nothing. For Fluent Forms, WPForms and Gravity Forms the entry must be saved first. A renamed form or widget no longer matches: edit the trigger in **Edit steps**. Errors go to **Settings > Tools > System log**.
8. **Check the flow.** Click **See who came through** (opens **Runs & Logs** for this flow). A run there shows each step; no run means the form never reached Hive Mail (check causes 1 to 4). See [Runs & Logs and flow reports](/docs/hive-mail-runs-and-logs-and-flow-reports/).
9. **The welcome email never arrives.** The person is added at once, but emails go out through the scheduler. See [Emails are not sending](/docs/hive-mail-emails-are-not-sending/).

To test, open the guide for the form and use **Try it now** on the last step, then send the form once. A green box says " was added just now"; after two minutes it says "Nothing yet". If it stays there, check that the form is visible on a page and not an old cached copy ([Conflicts with other plugins and caching](/docs/hive-mail-conflicts-with-plugins-and-caching/)).
