# Settings: Notifications

**Hive Mail > Settings > Notifications** chooses which events Hive Mail emails to you and whether you get a weekly summary. These emails go to you, never to contacts. They go through your sending method, so [email must work first](/docs/hive-mail-settings-sending/).

![The Notifications tab with the four cards](https://hiveplugins.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/hivemail-settings-notifications-overview-01.webp)

| Setting | What it does | Default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Send alerts to** | One address per line, up to 10. Empty uses **Send alerts to** on the General tab, then the site's admin email. A line under the box shows "Alerts go to: (addresses)" | Empty |
| **A campaign finished sending** | Subject "Campaign sent: (name)" with the people reached | On |
| **A campaign failed or was paused** | Tells you why sending stopped | On |
| **Spam complaints are rising** | 3 or more spam reports within an hour; at most one alert an hour | On |
| **Scheduled sending is running late** | Raised when the scheduler has not run for 15 minutes while something has been due for over 5 minutes; at most one a day; links to [Settings: Scheduler](/docs/hive-mail-settings-scheduler/) | On |
| **Someone joins your audience** | A digest after 2 minutes or 25 people, listing up to 20 | Off |
| **Someone unsubscribes** | Same digest style | Off |
| **Send me a summary every week** | Emails sent, opened and clicked, unsubscribes, new contacts and (with a shop) revenue for the last seven days | On |
| **Send it on** | Day of the week, in your site's timezone; shown only when the summary is on | Monday |

Alerts are grouped under **Campaigns**, **Delivery** and **Audience**. **Find an alert…** filters the list; **Turn all on** and **Turn all off** switch every alert. **Send me a sample** beside an alert (or **Send me a sample summary**) sends an example marked "[Sample]" to your own WordPress account address. Click **Save changes** ("Settings saved").

Alerts are sent at once, not through the queue, as service email (no footer, no tracking), so they work with a stuck queue but not with broken delivery; a failure is logged as "A notification email could not be sent." The weekly summary is sent by the daily job, which needs WordPress's cron ([Scheduled sending and cron](/docs/hive-mail-scheduled-sending-and-cron/)); changing the day never sends one at once. The **Business logo** from General heads these emails.

> **Tip:** Leave "Spam complaints are rising" and "A campaign failed or was paused" on; they warn you when a send or your reputation is in trouble.
