# Managing Clients

This article covers creating and managing client records in HiveCRM.

## Create a Client

1. Go to **Hive CRM → Clients**.
2. Click **Add Client**.
3. Choose **Individual Person** or **Company / Organization** and fill in their details.
4. Click **Create Client**.

If **Auto-Provision Client Portal Account** is enabled in [Contact Settings](contact-settings.md), a WordPress user with the `hcrm_client` role is created automatically so this client can log in to the [Client Portal](client-portal-overview.md).

## Promote an Existing Contact to a Client

If someone already exists as a [Contact](managing-contacts.md), open their record and update it from the Clients module once they become an active customer, so their record appears alongside your other clients and unlocks client-specific views.

## Review a Client's Activity

Open a client to see their financial summary and switch between the **Deals**, **Invoices**, **Projects**, and **Files** tabs to review everything associated with them in one place.

## Give a Client Portal Access

To let a client log in and view their own deals, invoices, projects, and tickets, make sure they have a portal account (see above), then configure what they can see under [Configuring the Client Portal](configuring-the-client-portal.md).

## Delete a Client

Open the client and click the delete action, then confirm. Deleted clients are moved to **Trash** and can be restored before being permanently removed.
